Riverside Reflections

The day felt wide open, stretched beneath a clear blue sky with no hurry at all. Sunlight poured down generously, warming the riverbank and the tall grass along the shore. The river moved slowly, almost lazily, its surface smooth enough to catch the sky and hold it there. Clouds drifted overhead and returned again in the water below, doubled and bright. Trees lined the river’s edge, their green canopies spilling into the reflection, leaves shimmering where the light touched them. Every ripple carried a fragment of the sky, bending the reflections just enough to remind you the water was alive. The air was clean and warm, filled with the quiet sounds of summer - water sliding over stone, insects humming somewhere unseen. It was the kind of afternoon that asked nothing of you. A place where time softened, and all that mattered was the slow movement of the river and the feeling that summer, at least for this moment, would last forever.
